What was wrong with the existing options.
Before starting Clearcut, we spoke to dozens of businesses across Dorset about their experiences with confidential shredding. The same problems came up repeatedly — not complaints about the concept of shredding, but about how the service was being delivered.
National providers typically require a sales call before giving a price. Businesses found themselves in conversations designed to upsell, not to inform. Prices changed at renewal with little notice.
Collections were missed or rescheduled at short notice. When businesses called to query this, they reached a national call centre with no knowledge of local operations.
The certificate of destruction — the critical GDPR compliance document — was not issued automatically. Businesses had to request it, sometimes repeatedly.
